What will you wear to college this summer, summer dress code for college

Want to stay fashion forward this year? New trends in campus fashion indicate that students can explore the preppy look with a little ’70s inspiration thrown in for an extra zing or go boho for the season.
It’s the start of another academic year for college students in Bangalore, and even as they stash their party stilettos away for a while, they are also busy shopping for new clothes which can make them look hip and help them stay within the parameters of their college dress codes.
The hottest new campus looks for the year range from preppy, classic casual and hippie chic. Here’s the lowdown on what’s new and happening...
Plaids, cardigans, school girl skirts and all things 90210 and Gossip Girl are becoming the rage this season. “I can’t wait to wear my little floral skirt coupled with tights and my ballerina shoes to college,” says Azza Idris, who is a great fan of this style. “I like to team a long, loose-fitting plaid or chambray shirt that’s big this season over skinny jeans or even coloured tights to make a fashion statement,” says another college student, Vaishali Deepak. Skinny jeans have always been a college girl’s best friend and are just as trendy this year too. “The best thing about them is that they can be matched with almost anything and they flatter just about any shape. Wear them with flats, slippers, Oxfords or Converse — they always look great,” says Bhavya Mandanna, who swears by them.
But for students who have no other choice than to stick to traditional wear, there are just as many options too. Fashionistas believe that Indian attire is the easiest to pull off and the most comfortable too. The fashion weeks and runways predict the revolution of the Pakistani style anklelength kurta worn either with salwars or chudis.
“But short girls must stay away from this trend and stick to shorter kurtas in cotton and linens that have colourful floral patterns on them,” says fashion enthusiast Shriya Narayan.
The other look to try this year on campus is the boho style. Ruffled shirts, chunky jewellery, candy colours, tribal prints, peasant blouses — what’s not to love in this look? “I love fusion fashion because it’s fun, flirty and cute,” says student Karishma Vawani. “This look also includes crochet, which is back with a bang this year, in jewellery, hair accessories and bags,” adds Karishma Vawani. So, give your worn out jeans and T-shirts a miss for a while and try out some of the new and fashionable styles that are available in stores this year. Going stylish on campus could make the whole academic year just as fun too
