Sunil might have directed Anita Raj in his directorial venture, but he is a multi-faceted personality. He had studied to be a dental surgeon. However, his lack of interest in his chosen profession led him to try out movies. However, he did not have a long innings in movies. He directed just one more movie, Ram Avatar (1988) and then quit the film industry.
While still directing movies, he had started an opticians business which had flourished. In fact, he is credited as being the first person to use plastic lenses for making spectacles in India. He also has a restaurant in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area.
Called Balthazar, the décor of the restaurant has been designed by Sunil Hingorani himself.
Anita Raj has had a long and extremely successful marriage. She married Sunil Hingorani in 1986. However, she continued to act in movies even after her marriage. Though her films after marriage did do quite well commercially, she quit movies in the 1990s in order to look after her son. But she did act in a couple of television serials like Aashiqui and Eena Meena Deeka. The couple has a son named Shivam. He is now more than 20 years old and is in the United States.
After a long stint as mother and wife, Anita Raj recently re-entered movies. She acted opposite Jackie Shroff in the movie Thodi Life Thoda Magic (2007) and has indicated that she is open to acting if she gets challenging roles.
